Layer Marney Tower is a beautiful Tudor building surrounded by formal gardens and parkland, with magnificent views to the Blackwater estuary.
Situated between Colchester and Maldon, the house was built around 1520 by Henry, 1st Lord Marney. He was the Lord Privy Seal to Henry V111, and he intended his palace to surpass both in size and grandeur Cardinal Wolsey’s similar work at Hampton Court.

How to find it:
Turn off the A12 at the Halstead exit (B1124). At the roundabout take the third exit left. (You will pass a sign for Layer Marney Tower that says follow the signs to Maldon). At the roundabout, take third exit to Maldon and Colchester Zoo. You will now go over four small roundabouts: at the first straight over, at the second turn 1st left, at the third turn right, at the fourth take 2nd exit onto Warren Lane following signs to Maldon. At the T junction turn right to Maldon (B1022). After two miles you will see, on the right, the entrance to Birch Quarry, and soon after a turning on the left signed to Layer Marney Tower. Take this turning, go straight over the cross-roads and follow the lane for 1/4 of a mile. The entrance gates to Layer Marney Tower are on the right.

Transport to and from Milsoms Hotel, Travelodge Colchester Feering, Marks Tey Delta Hotel, and Layer Marney Tower will be provided by the Layer Marney Routemaster bus.
Bus will pick up guests from:
- Milsoms Hotel, Dedham at 1.05pm
- Travelodge Colchester Feering at 1.30pm
- Marks Tey Delta Hotel at 1.40pm
Bus will arrive at Layer Marney Church at 2pm
Marriage ceremony will begin at 2.30pm
While photographs are taken, there will be drinks and canapes in the grounds of Layer Marney from 3.30pm
Please be seated in the barn for the wedding breakfast by 5pm
The evening reception will begin at 8pm
The bar will close at 11.30pm
The bus will depart at 11.45pm, dropping off guests at the Marks Tey Delta Hotel, Travelodge Colchester Feering and Milsoms Hotel.

Our Duelling Piano Entertainers have vast repertoires and can play pretty much anything requested. With two pianos and two entertainers leading the band, guests will be invited to make song requests, so everybody will get to hear and join in to the songs they adore.
